SS: Presentations of the small group reseach on their Bill of Right's amendments.
Questions to be addressed:
Why did the Founding Fathers write this amendment? (Purpose)
Who did it benefit?
What does the amenment really say?

Block Assignments for week of 9-8-08

Monday:
Literature and Social Studies books were assigned and covered in paper covers.
In small groups, we made posters to help the 6th graders learn the behavior expectations for different areas in our building.

Tuesday:
The Register Guard will bed delivered every Monday for our class to use.  Today I assigned the standing Monday RG reflection that will be due every Tuesday.  
We brainstormed on writing lists that will be kept in our writing portfolios.  This is to insure that we never run out of things to write about in later assignments.
Using pictures taken on my laptop, we matched up Manga bodies to illustrate our personalities.  These will be posted in the classroom along with our name poems and name tags.  Come see them at Open House.

Wednesday:
Plot:  Duffy's Jacket in the literature book, pgs 2-4.  Retelling exercise in class, pg 12.
Finished Mangas.
Introductory lesson in spelling/vocab is from pg. 1039, the first column, and Riki Tiki Tavi in our literature books.  The words go in the LA spiral.  A spelling/vocab test will be every Tuesday.
Started a comparitive governments unit using a handout, The Constitution. 
HW: The rules in your home

Thursday:
Plot: Read Duffy's Jacket in class.  Practice retelling with the blue WS.
Preamble WS (p. 38).  Write Preamble in our own words.

Friday:
Look over the Book Orders from Scholastic.  Orders will be due to the classroom on Friday,9-19-08.  The blue Retelling WS is due.
Creating a Bill of Rights for Classroom Rules.

Monday:
Book check out and paper covers on the books.  Book numbers are written on the inside cover of the planners. Fun with word searches--it's great exercise for the eyes!

Tuesday:
Locater testing.  I want to determine how much students remember from last year.
